Child safety

Updated 2026-10-13

Many SabiQ users are students, and some are under 18. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and we build SabiQ so that young people can study safely.

Our standards

  • Any content or behaviour that sexualises, grooms, exploits or endangers a child is banned on SabiQ.
  • We remove it as soon as we find it or are told about it, close the accounts involved, and keep the evidence for the authorities.
  • We report child sexual abuse material and any child at risk to the relevant authorities, including the Nigeria Police Force and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and work with them on any investigation.
  • We follow Nigerian law, including the Child Rights Act and the Nigeria Data Protection Act, and the child safety rules of Google Play and the App Store.

How SabiQ is built to keep young people safe

  • No private messaging. Users cannot send messages to each other anywhere in SabiQ.
  • No photos from users. Profile pictures are chosen from SabiQ's own set of avatars; nobody can upload a photo of themselves.
  • No exact location. We never use GPS. Other users see at most a first name, an initial, a state and a country, for example "Ada O. · Lagos, Nigeria".
  • Extra protection for under-18s. At sign-up we ask for an age range, never a date of birth. Under-18s must confirm that a parent or guardian agrees, can't be found by "everyone from this school", and are never matched by location. Once confirmed, the age range can only be changed through our support team.
  • Leaderboards are optional. Anyone can hide themselves in Account → Privacy and data.
  • Checked content. Every question, explanation and riddle is checked before students see it, and students can report any question that is wrong or offensive.
  • Safe text fields. School names typed by users can't contain links, email addresses or phone numbers.

Report a concern

If you see anything that puts a child at risk, tell us straight away:

  • In the app: use Report on any question.
  • By email: write to our support team with "Child safety" in the subject line. Email us at support@getsabiq.app.

We treat every child safety report as urgent and act on it as quickly as possible. You don't need to be a SabiQ user to report.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 112 or contact the police first.

Our child safety contact

Child safety reports, questions about these standards and requests from the authorities all go to our support team at the email above. Put "Child safety" in the subject line so it reaches the right person first.
